For the second time this season, the Rangers have captured the Pitcher of the Week award in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Jason Martyn has taken home the honors for the week of Feb. 12-19, as released by the league office on Monday afternoon.
The junior transfer took home the honors this week after throwing nine innings over the course of the week while giving up zero earned runs over the course of week.
Martyn was 1-0 on the week and tossed a complete game in game one of the series against Benedictine striking out 13 batters while giving up just one unearned run. The Rangers went on to a 2-1 victory.
The California native also pitched two scoreless innings in relief against East Central and sports a 3-1 record on the season.
Clay Thomas was the first Ranger hurler to take home the award the week of Jan. 30 to Feb. 6.
The Rangers will open up their SAC schedule on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at Southern Nazarene.
