    April 29, 2014 -- A national online publication has ranked the nursing program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University as one of the nation’s best. In its national rankings released this week, CollegeAtlas.org ranked Northwestern’s nursing program at No. 18, based on academic quality, affordability and accessibility, as well as what percent of nursing graduates pass their board certification tests (NCLEX-RN).

    April 1, 2014--Students in the Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing department’s Care of the Family course along with the junior nursing students will be sponsoring a health fair Thursday, April 3, from 1-5 p.m. at the Act One Building in downtown Alva on the north side of the square. This event is free and open to the public.

    September 25, 2012 -- Students from the Division of Nursing at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will offer flu shot clinics in October at its campuses in Alva, Enid and Woodward. This clinic is open to the public, and the cost is $25 per injection.

  • Nursing students to travel to Chicago and Australia to present Bio-Touch

    March 5, 2012 -- Nursing students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University completed a research study utilizing a complementary touch therapy, titled Bio-Touch, to assess the effects on stress and other related factors. Twelve students are taking this research to Chicago to present at the Midwest Business Administration Association (MBAA) Conference March 28-31.

    November 15, 2011 - The Northwest Honor Society for Nurses, a nursing honor society at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, gained 19 members last week. During an annual induction ceremony, members were recognized and photographed for this event.

    Nov. 3, 2011 - Northwestern Oklahoma State University nursing faculty recently traveled to Grapevine, Texas, for the 41st Biennial Convention on Oct. 28-Nov. 2.  Dr. Carole McKenzie, professor of nursing and chair, and Cheryl Kent, instructor of nursing and assistant chair, spoke on “Social Networking and Professionalism:  Issues for Nursing Faculty.” McKenzie also spoke on the same topic at the Oklahoma Nurses' Association in Norman on Oct. 26-28.

    October 7, 2011- Doris (Wagner) Ferguson, former dean of the Division of Nursing at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, was honored during a reception Homecoming Saturday. Past alumni and nursing faculty attended the event to recognize Ferguson for her nursing career.

      Nursing students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University would like to thank the Woodward Regional Hospital for donating three electric beds and for providing continued support to the Northwestern-Woodward skills lab.  There are approximately 48 pre-nursing and nursing students at the Woodward campus.  Students will gain hand-on experience with these new beds.

Fourteen member of the 2010 nursing class from Northwestern’s three campus locations have given the Division of Nursing a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX ), a required test for nursing graduates.
