Dr. Karen Linstrum, assistant professor of psychology at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, recently presented at the Texas School Counselor’s Association Annual Conference held at the Arlington Convention Center in Arlington, Texas. Linstrum’s presentation was “Culture-Bound Syndromes and Native American Students.” The psychological concept “historical trauma” was discussed in relation to post-traumatic stress disorder and other disorders concerning unresolved grief.
