EDMOND, Okla. – The Northwestern Lady Ranger basketball team fell 66-45 in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener in Edmond on Monday to drop to 4-2 overall on the season.
Northwestern jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but after a 10-0 run by the Lady Eagles, Northwestern found themselves down 27-18 at the half.
The Lady Rangers got within a point, trailing 40-39 with 10:48 to go, but Northwestern would only score six points in the remainder of the game and succumbed to a 26-7 run to close the game.
Northwestern shot a season low of 27 percent from the field. D’Shanna Butler and Ashley Johnson scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, while Leandra Johnson had eight.
Oklahoma Christian received 23 points from Lindsey Gipson and shot 40 percent on the night.
Northwestern (4-2) will remain idle until Dec. 4 when the Lady Rangers host St. Gregory’s at 6 p.m.
