WINFIELD, Kan. (10-24-11) – The Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s cross country team took part in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Mid-States Classic this past Saturday.
In the event hosted by Southwestern College in Winfield, Kan., the Lady Rangers squad finished in 19th place with an average time of 22:59.89. Conference foe Wayland Baptist was the top team with a first place finish at 19:12.49.
Paige Little was the first Lady Ranger to cross the finish line in the women’s 5K race with a time of 21:40.84, while teammate Kathryn Montes came in at 22:05.55.
The winner of the race was Obsie Birru from Grand View (Iowa) with a time of 17:30.24.
Other Northwestern runner completing the event was Emily Guthrie (22:44.22), Laura Haftman (23:02.12), Shelby Ashcraft (25:27.01), Elizabeth Guffy (26:26.10), Shannon Rose (27:09.27) and Desirae Guffy (28:17.54).
The Lady Rangers will wrap up the 2011 season on Nov. 5 at the Sooner Athletic Conference meet.
