EDMOND, Okla. (11-1-11) – Kyle Jech has been named conference player of the week for the second time this season, while teammate Edgar Colmenares received an honor as well when the awards were announced late Monday.
Following a career performance on Saturday, Northwestern Oklahoma State University quarterback Jech was named offensive player of the week by the Central States Football League office. The Rangers defeated conference foe Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas), 62-39.
In the game, Jech totaled 361 yards and four touchdowns against the Lions, including a career high 315 yards and three touchdowns through the air on 19-of-31 passing. The Kingfisher, Okla., native also rushed 10 times for 46 yards and a touchdown.
A native of Pauls Valley, Okla., Colmenares is the second Ranger this season to be named special teams player of the week. Against the Lions, Colmenares hit a 44-yard and 22-yard field goals, and was a perfect 8-for-8 in extra points.
Colmenares also has kickoff duties for the Rangers, booting nine for a total of 524 yards.
Northwestern closes their season on the road on Saturday as they travel to face Oklahoma Panhandle State in Goodwell. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
