NWOSU started interactive television (ITV) classes in 1996, in the Jesse Dunn building, Room 233. Approximately 56 classes were transmitted by ITV at that time. That figure has more than doubled with approximately 105-110 classes being transmitted during the spring and fall semesters.
The scheduling for ITV was done through the Graduate Office in Alva, and the Dean's Office in Enid until January, 2002. In 2001, it was suggested that Administration hire two people to manage all ITV scheduling and any issues dealing with ITV. So, in January, 2002, Administration hired Sharon McConkey, ITV Coordiator, for the Alva campus, and Chauncey Durham, Assistant ITV Coordinator, for the Enid campus. They were hired on a six month trial-basis. At the end of June, 2002, the positions became permanent and the ITV Department was born. The rest -- as they say -- is history.
