Social Work professional Hugh Clark to speak at Northwestern March 8

March 5, 2010

Dr. Hugh Clark

Social work students from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and area social work professionals will have the opportunity to listen to Dr. Hugh Clark, executive director of National Association of Social Work-Oklahoma (NASW-OK), speak on Monday, March 8, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Enid branch, room 220.

His topic, “Ethics in Social Work Supervision and Administration,” will be available via ITV to Northwestern-Alva in the Industrial Education building, room 129, and to Northwestern-Woodward, room 147.

Clark’s presentation is available for professionals who need continuing education units (CEU).  Three ethics CEU hours will be offered for professionals attending this event.  There will be a $30 fee for non-NASW members.  Northwestern students and NASW members may attend for free.

Social work professionals are required to receive 16 CEU’s per year, three of which must be ethics hours.

“We hope that by having Dr. Clark speak at Northwestern we can promote our social work program and offer CEU credits at a reasonable cost,” said Rae Wilson, assistant professor of social work.

NASW is a great organization for social work professionals, Wilson said.

“The support and camaraderie of NASW is great,” Wilson said.  “Not only does NASW offer wonderful benefits and discounts, but professionals can bounce ideas off of each other.”
