The annual contest to select a theme for the 2015 Alva/Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming has begun, and is open to the public. Deadline for submitting entries is 5 p.m., Friday, March 13.
This year’s Homecoming will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 8, through Saturday, Oct. 10.
Suggestions must be limited to 10 words or fewer and should be something that can be illustrated through designs for floats and other homecoming contests.
The person who submits the winning theme will receive $25 in Alva Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber Bucks.
The committee also is looking for suggestions for the honorary parade marshal. Persons nominated must have a significant connection, current or past, to Northwestern, whether as a student, faculty member, staff member, coach, administrator or friend of the university.
Members of the homecoming committee are not eligible to compete for the prize.
Dr. David Pecha, vice president for administration and Homecoming chair, explained that if a winning theme suggestion does not come from the public, the committee will devise one, and there will be no award.
Entries and nominations may be turned in to Pecha, in Herod Hall- second floor or by emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org. Suggestions also may be submitted by visiting www.nwosu.edu/homecoming-theme or in an entry box in the Northwestern Bookstore in the Student Center
