Homecoming kickoff planned Monday as first event of week

September 16, 2010

Members from the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming committee are encouraging Ranger fans to come enjoy some free food, fun and games during the Homecoming Kickoff on Monday, Sept. 20, from 6-8:30 p.m.

The Kickoff will be on the northwest side of the Northwestern-Alva campus in the Greenspace and is open to the public.

There will be live music and fun activities with the intention to bring campus and community members together to jump start and celebrate the annual Homecoming event.

Ranger Queen and King candidates will attend to campaign for the titles that will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 25, during halftime of the Rangers against Texas College football game. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

Homecoming buttons and t-shirts will be available for purchase. Each button and t-shirt is $10 and $12, respectively. T-shirts are two for $20. When purchasing a Homecoming t-shirt, receive a $1 off discount by wearing a Homecoming button.

There are additional discounts through local businesses with the purchase of a Homecoming button. Alva’s Market will offer a tax-free week during Homecoming for patrons who wear their button. Other discounts are available at the Alva Sewing Center, Bar S Outfitters, Brown’s Shoe Fit, Cookies Bowl and Café, Daisy Village, Dorothy’s Flowers and Gifts, Fabrics and More, Floral Designs and Gifts by Susie, Foote’s Farm Supply, Gambino’s, Merle Norman Cosmetics, Merrifield Office and School Supply, Inc., Happiness House, La Dee Da’s, Radio Shack, Rialto, Subway, Taco Mayo, Mark Ream Motors and Washburn Motor.

The evening will end with a bonfire at 9 p.m., weather permitting, in the parking lot of Ranger Field.
