Eleven bands will circle the square during Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s homecoming parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov.1.
Band director Dr. Kathryn Lindberg said that, in addition to Northwestern’s marching band, the junior high and high school band were coming from as far away as Springfield, Colo.
Those band marching and their directors, listed by class, are:
Junior High A—Alva Middle School, Mike Conner.
Junior High B— Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Junior High, Sherri Lohmann; Medicine Lodge (Kan.) Middle School, Yvonne Burden and Roger Noble.Class B – Ringwood High School, Jim Pearce; Drummond High School, John Arnbrecht.
Class AA—Springfield, Colo., Steuart; Seiling, Karen Harris.
Class AAA—Caney Valley High School, Janice Wiggin; Medicine Lodge High School, Burden and Noble.
Class AAAA—Alva, Conner.
Several directors leading their bands in the parade are Northwestern alumni. They include Noble, class of 1959, Conner and Arnbrecht, class of 1977; Sherri Lohmann, class of 2000; and Adam Steuart, class of 2007.
Northwestern and Caney Valley, Springfield and Alva high schools will present mini-concerts on the band shell immediately following the parade. Band and float awards will be announced at that time.
The bands will gather at Ranger Field in the afternoon to present a massed band performance of “Armed Forces Salute” during halftime of the homecoming football game with Southern Nazarene University.
