January 29, 2013 -- Two art pieces created by Brandice Guerra, MFA, assistant professor of art at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, will be published in a book called the International Painting Annual 3 this summer.

December 17, 2012 -- ‘Tis the season to do something nice for others and give to those in need. Giving back is what the members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) do year round, and because of the group’s service learning efforts in the 2011-2012 school year, they have been given the perSERVEring Ranger Award by the Office of Service Learning and Civic Engagement (SLICE).

April 27, 2012 -- Two photographs, a drawing and a dress made from recycled newspapers earned the top awards during the Ninth Annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show. These items and other winning entries will be displayed in a special show at the Runnymede Hotel on April 30 and May 1, which is free and open to the public. A reception for artists and the public will be Monday, April 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

February 7, 2012 -- Fifty works of art by 38 high school students from the area will be on display for one week starting Friday in a juried high school art exhibition sponsored by the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Studio Art program. An opening reception with light refreshments for the high school students, their parents and families, guests and members of the university and local communities will take place Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the J.W. Martin Library.

January 11, 2012 -- The deadline is drawing near for high school artists who’d like to be considered for the first juried high school art exhibition sponsored by the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Studio Art program. Students in grades 9-12 or their teachers may submit digital photographs of student artwork electronically or by mail through Jan. 23. Those accepted to show their artwork in the exhibition will be notified no later than Jan. 27.

September 27, 2011 - A Northwestern Oklahoma State University Homecoming Art Exhibition showing more than 40 pieces of art by more than 20 artists will be the first event in the new Graceful Arts Center in downtown Alva. The free show opens Friday with a reception for artists and the public from 7 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

A Homecoming Art Exhibition featuring artwork from Northwestern Oklahoma State University students, employees and alumni will be displayed in the Graceful Art Center in downtown Alva on Friday, Sept. 30, through Oct. 7. Deadline to submit artwork is Sept. 26.

Free entry registration for the eighth annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society Art Show is now being accepted through April 8. An online registration form is available at www.nwosu.edu/art-show-form, as well as a list for all categories and their descriptions. For those who prefer to have a printed version of the entry form, a link to a Word file of the entry form also is available.

After more than 20 years, Northwestern Oklahoma State University again will be offering courses leading to a minor in art. Thanks to two generous donations from the Wisdom Family Foundation to create endowed chairs in art, requirements for an art minor have been established, a fulltime instructor has been hired, and four classes have been added to the fall 2011 schedule.

The commitment on the part of the Wisdom Family Foundation to begin an art program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University has been made clear with the gift of $250,000 to create a second endowed faculty chair in art.
This current gift matches an initial $250,000 pledge in August of 2008 to establish the Grace V. Wisdom Endowed Chair in Visual Arts.

The Sixth Annual Northwestern Art Society (NAS) Art Show is open through Saturday in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus. All winning entries will then be moved to a show downtown at the Runnymede Hotel on April 27 and 28.

Members of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University campus community, as well as the general public, are welcome to visit the Sixth Annual Northwestern Art Society (NAS) Art Show today through April 25 in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus.

Students, as well as current and retired employees of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, have until April 9 to pre-register entries for the Sixth Annual Northwestern Art Society (NAS) Art Show scheduled for April 16-25 in the J.W. Martin Library.

More than 100 people attended the private ceremony honoring Margaret Manuel Larason at Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Woodward on March 31. Photography captured by Oklahoma Centennial photographer Mike Klemme was presented as a gift to the university by her family and friends.

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) is sponsoring its sixth annual Art Show in April and has a new category for those interested in recycling. All university students, as well as current and retired employees, are encouraged to enter the show. A “Reuse, Recycle, Re-Art” category has been added this year to get people thinking about what is thrown away every day, and what types of new things can be made by thinking creatively.
