High school art exhibition opens Friday at Northwestern

Fifty works of art by 38 high school students from the area will be on display for one week starting Friday in a juried high school art exhibition sponsored by the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Studio Art program.

An opening reception with light refreshments for the high school students, their parents and families, guests and members of the university and local communities will take place Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the J.W. Martin Library on the Northwestern-Alva campus. The show will run through Friday, Feb. 17, and be open for viewing during regular library hours.

Students and where they are from include:

Gage Bouziden, Dalton Costello, Jessica French, Megan Garnett, Diana Gonzalez, Timothy Harris, Kasha Knabe, Clayton Kolb, Gagan Moorthy, Henry Nighswonger, Makena Sherrell, Blaine Tomberlin and Garret Towns, all from Alva High School.

Students from Fargo Public Schools include Dillon Kammerer of Fargo; Kelsie Hamaker of Gage; and Tyler Larkey and Briley Goodwin of Woodward.

Students from Seiling Public Schools include Rilla Stone and Dustie Thacker of Chester; Kayla Riddle of Fairview; Kelsie Pethoud, Mutual; Brittany Coe, Tyler Flowers, Taylor Gore, Dalton Holsapple, Kjelcea Johnson, Jordan McDonald, Anna Rivas, Nicole Sander, Thomas Sander, John Seifried and Makayla Tate, all of Seiling; Bethany Artherton, Kristen Artherton, Danielle Borden and Shelby Calkins, all of Taloga; and Charity Hickman, Vici.

Artwork must be picked up by the exhibitors on Feb. 20. If return shipping costs have been provided, artwork will be shipped on this date. Any artwork remaining on campus after Feb. 27 will become the permanent property of the Northwestern Studio Art program.
