Northwestern Oklahoma State University senior forward Thiago Guilherme has been honored by the NAIA as a 2011-12 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Guilherme was one of 55 student-athletes in NAIA Division I men’s basketball to be recognized. This is the second consecutive year the Brazilian native has earned the honor.
"Thiago works really hard to be a really good student and athlete," men's basketball head coach Andrew Brown said. "He will be very successful in anything he chooses to do."
Guilherme also shared the All-Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the year award in 2011-12.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
