Four women to be honored at AAUW annual recognition ceremony on March 24

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) will host its 9th Annual Women’s Recognition Ceremony and Dinner at Northwestern Oklahoma State University on March 24, at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

Tickets for the event are $15 and must be purchased by March 17 from any AAUW member. AAUW members encourage those interested to reserved tickets soon.

Four women from northwest Oklahoma will be recognized and honored for their accomplishments and contributions to their communities, churches, businesses and families. The final award for outstanding “Woman of the Year” will remain top secret until the awards ceremony.

Some of the past “Woman of the Year” winners include Anna Belle Shafer, 2003; Yvonne Carmichael-Riley, 2004; Charla Parker, 2005; Dale Brown, 2006; Joy Sherman, 2007; Dr. Carole McKenzie, 2008; Evelyn Kamas, 2009; and Mary Hamilton, 2010.

This evening of celebration also will include a dinner catered by Chartwell’s, with Rev. Judy Pistole as the emcee of the event. Musical entertainment for the evening will be provided by Dana Miller, Alva junior majoring in music.
