Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Social Work Department and Social Worker’s Association of Tomorrow (SWAT) are playing host to a community forum regarding keeping children safe on the Internet and from trafficking, on Sunday, Sept. 26, from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Northwestern-Woodward Commons Area.
Guest speaker Mark Elam, director of Oklahomans Against Trafficking of Humans (OATH), will present a short film titled “Shared Hope.”
Following the film, Elam will introduce an Oklahoma survivor of child trafficking, and she will give a powerful and inspiring story. Community members will then be given the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session, and respond to a “call for action” to develop networks of intervention and prevention of this issue.
For more information about this event, contact Rae Wilson, director of field education, at (580) 213-3148 or drwilson@nwosu.edu.
