Annual holiday music concerts will begin in the Department of Fine Arts at Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m., as the University Singers and University Chorale perform at the Zion Lutheran Church in Alva. These events are free and open to the public.
The University Singers and University Chorale will join forces to present a holiday performance that will include works by Guillaume Du Fay, John Rutter and Flor Peeters, as well as the beloved Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi.
Continuing the holiday spirit on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Herod Hall Auditorium, the Concert Choir and Concert Band will perform during the Annual Fine Arts Holiday Concert. Following the concert, Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, will throw the switch to officially light the university Christmas tree.
Choir and band members will be performing a non-traditional holiday medley inspired by several countries around the world, while the Concert Band will perform Russian Christmas music by composer Alfred Reed.
