  • Senior biology student clones DNA as part of summer internship program

    Northwestern senior Amanda Moyer of Fargo has been interested in science for as long as she can remember, but a recent summer internship with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City allowed her to broaden her horizons and even make some discoveries of her own.

  • Josh Rich, Coleman Teel attend Research Day at the capitol

    Josh Rich, Fairview sophomore, and Coleman Teel, Harper (Kan.) senior, represented Northwestern Oklahoma State University during Research Day at the State Capitol and presented their research project titled “Predator Odors as a Potential Repellant for Snakes.” The purpose of the project was to test the efficacy of the odor of a known snake predator as a repellent.

  • Entry deadline March 29 for Ranger Research Day

    Ranger Research Day at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will take place on Friday, April 2. Entry deadline is Monday, March 29, and is open to Northwestern students and employees. Registration and set-up begins at 7:30 a.m., in the Student Center Ballroom on the Alva campus. Poster judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. The public is welcome to view the research projects from 8:30 a.m. to noon. A brief awards ceremony will take place at noon.
  • Ranger Research Day winners

    Johnathan Oswald, Alva senior, received the first place award at the conclusion of the third annual Ranger Research Day at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. His project was titled “An Electrophysiological Analysis of the Tail Shaker Complex in Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes with the Use of Electromyography. Dr. Aaron Place, assistant professor of biology, sponsored Oswald.

    Ranger Research Day will take place in the Student Center Ballroom on Friday, April 3, at 9 a.m., at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The public is invited to view the research projects at 10:30 a.m.

    Johnathon Oswald, Alva senior, represented Northwestern Oklahoma State University during Research Day at the State Capitol and presented his research project titled “Muscle Physiology,” which focused on the muscles that make up the tail shaker of a western diamondback rattlesnake and their effects of prolonged rattling.
