Enid restaurant owner to speak for women's history month

Mary Buthman, owner and operator of Maria Raes Gourmet Foods in Enid, will serve as guest speaker for Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Heritage Celebration Series in honor of women’s history month. Buthman’s presentation, along with a product testing, begins at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, at Northwestern-Enid, room 220.

The presentation will be available at all campus locations via ITV. Product tastings also will be given in Alva, Industrial Education, room 129; Woodward, room 147; and Ponca City University Center, room 127.

In 1982, Buthman opened Maria Raes Mexican Food restaurant in downtown Enid. She and her husband Mark ran the restaurant until 1987, when they expanded their product line and began selling her original salsa to local grocery stores. The product line includes three levels of salsa and are now available in stores in Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.
