English Program to Sponsor Creative Reading Series

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University English program is sponsoring a Creative Reading Night once a month for a four-month series. The event will take place at the Graceful Arts Gallery and Studios (523 Barnes in Alva) and is free and open to the public.

Each reading night will have a different theme with the first being “Hidden Artists” on Feb. 6 from 6-7:30 p.m. This reading will consist of three guest readers who teach literature by day and work on their own creative writings by night. The three guest readers are Dawn Allen, adjunct instructor of English, reading fiction; Dr. Kathryn Lane, assistant professor of English, reading flash fiction and some nonfiction; and Dr. Clarence Johnson, adjunct instructor of English, reading poetry.

Other dates for the Creative Reading Series will be March 3, “Rangers’ Readings,” which will consist of Northwestern student’s works; April 3 will be “Poetry Night” in honor of National Poetry Month; and May 1, theme to be announced.
