  • Northwestern's Sigma Tau Delta inducts new members

    May 3, 2016 – Seven Northwestern Oklahoma State University students recently were inducted into the Alpha Nu Psi chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, English honor society. The induction ceremony was broadcast from the Alva campus via ITV to Ponca City and Enid. 

  • Northwestern English program offering Writing Marathon April 1 in downtown Alva

    March 29, 2016 -- Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s English program will play host to a Writing Marathon workshop in downtown Alva on Friday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Graceful Arts Center.

  • First stipend established for Northwestern English program, spring 2015 recipient named

    April 4, 2015 – Among many scholarships available to students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, the Kathleen and Gary Earnest Stipend for Student and Alumni Outreach provides a new approach in the form of an internship. This unique endowment, recently established by Kathleen and Gary Earnest, will help develop outreach in the English program and cultivate its students’ professional writing skills in order to prepare them for life after graduation.

  • Book of poetry marks third publication for Johnson, will read at First Friday event

    April 28, 2015 -- A new book of poetry has hit the market thanks to Dr. Clarence Johnson, adjunct instructor of English at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. “Lamentations, Peregrinations, and Adumbrations” is the third book written by Johnson.

  • Visiting Writers Series presents Enid native: Quraysh Ali Lansana

    April 22, 2015--A Brown Bag Reading, an event in conjunction with the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Visiting Writers Series, will be Thursday, April 30, at noon in the Ranger Perk. Enid native Quraysh Ali Lansana, also known as “Q,” will be reading from a collection of his poetry in honor of National Poetry Month. This event is sponsored by the English program and is free and open to the public.

  • English program sponsors poetry reading

    October 1, 2013-- Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Department of English, Foreign Language, and Humanities is sponsoring the Fall 2013 poetry readings. Tonight the visiting poet for the American Studies program is Jeanetta Calhoun Mish at 7 p.m. at the Graceful Arts Center.
