    August 17, 2014--After reviewing several submissions, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University/Alva Homecoming committee selected “Ranger Games: Catching Fire,” as the 2014 parade theme, an option turned in by Raye Lynn Bird. Student and community groups are encouraged to create a float that incorporates this theme for Homecoming, which is set for Oct. 16-18.

    October 29, 2013--Floats were built, the bands were ready, and Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s football team brought the Rangers a win! This past weekend several gathered around the downtown square for the annual homecoming parade on Saturday, then headed to Ranger Field to watch the Ranger football team win 25-21 against Southeastern Oklahoma State University, all to celebrate Northwestern’s homecoming.

    October 28, 2013--During halftime of the Ranger football game on Oct. 26, Baylei Zehr, a senior from Copeland, Kan., and Jake West, Tonkawa senior, were crowned as 2013 homecoming queen and king during the coronation ceremony at Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Jane Jayroe, Miss Cinderella 1963; Annie (Arganbright) Milleret, Miss Cinderella 1967; Lucia (Miller) O’Connor, Miss Cinderella 1972; Cassie (McEachern) Walden, Miss Cinderella 1999; and Dr. Yvonne Carmichael, director for 22 years, have committed to judging the Miss Cinderella Talent Show on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m., and the Pageant on Friday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m.

  • Harvey Reeg to lead Homecoming parade as marshal

    For Harvey Reeg, Northwestern Oklahoma State University holds a special place in his heart. It is the place where he met his wife, earned his undergraduate degree in 1954 and received his master’s in 1961. He now will serve as parade marshal during the annual Homecoming celebration on Sept. 29-Oct. 1. Reeg will lead the parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 1. By showing his Ranger pride and leading the parade, it makes him an ideal candidate to represent the Homecoming theme, “Northwestern: Branded for Life.”

    Fans who want to watch Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s football team battle Black Hills State University on Sept. 12, can do so in style and help raise money to benefit the Alva-Northwestern Homecoming Association. The Association is offering use of the air-conditioned president’s suite at Ranger Field for the game, along with 10 complimentary game tickets, 10 VIP parking passes, refreshments in the suite and a catered meal courtesy of the Rowdy Rangers.
  • 2009 Homecoming Theme to Celebrate A Century of the Ranger Mascot

    During a football season 100 years ago, the term “Rangers” was first used to name sports teams at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, known then as Northwestern Normal School.

    To celebrate the centennial anniversary of the school mascot, the homecoming committee at Northwestern has selected “A Century of Ranger Pride” as the theme for the 2009 celebration. The theme must be used by any club or organization entering the float, spirit sheet sign and dorm decoration contests.
