Message from Director of Choral and Vocal Studies

Welcome to Northwestern Oklahoma State University Choirs!

To our friends and family, to prospective students searching for a creative singing community, and to all music-lovers: we are delighted you are visiting us. The Northwestern Oklahoma State University Choirs maintain an active performance schedule on-campus and on tour, and we invite you to explore our ensembles, concerts, and past performances.

As an academic performance organization that is integral to the Northwestern community, we seek to perform diverse music that will invigorate and inspire audiences. Our choirs are open to singers of all abilities, consisting of music majors and non-majors, undergraduate and graduate students, and Northwestern faculty and friends.

Students who major in vocal performance or music education become adept at performing a wide variety of choral repertoire, from the renaissance to modern eras. Upon graduation, our students are competitively positioned to serve as the finest music educators and performers or to pursue graduate music study.

Northwestern choirs tour nationally every year. In spring of 2013, the University Singers will embark on a nine-day tour to Shanghai and Beijing. Immersed in Chinese culture, the choir will explore and learn from the experience of performance in China.

Northwestern’s Applied Voice Department hosts regular master classes with internationally renowned singers and specialists. Through these master classes, Northwestern voice students have numerous opportunities for professional coaching and performance.

If you would like more information or are considering participating in Northwestern Choirs, please contact me directly. I look forward to hearing from you!
