Decorating workshop planned for Nov. 8

Nov. 2, 2011

Northwestern Foundation

Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, friends and alumni of Northwestern Oklahoma State University and members of the Alva and surrounding communities are invited to a free decorating workshop Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ranger Room on the Alva campus. Decorating for the Holidays will feature decorating tips and tricks for the home by Alva native and decorating enthusiast Tammie Gaddy, Susie Schlarb of Floral Designs & Gifts by Susie, and Melanie Gaisford of G & G Home Furnishings.

Gaddy will introduce participants to basic decorating styles, including decorating ideas for casual and formal table settings as well as tactics for fall and Christmas mantles and Christmas trees. Schlarb will show techniques for creating a Christmas wreath using a new deco poly mesh material and share tricks for adapting wreaths for any occasion. Gaisford will bring sample furniture and accessories to illustrate ways of arranging furniture to create conversation areas and to overcome challenges with small or difficult spaces.

Decorating for the Holidays is the premier event in the Community Connection Series hosted by the Northwestern Foundation & Alumni Association, committed to establishing new and strengthening current relationships between members of northwest Oklahoma communities and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Future programs in the series will focus on topics such as, but not limited to, health and wellness, personal finance, cultural endeavors, history and homemaking.
