The Journal Record has selected two prominent women of Northwestern Oklahoma State University as recipients of the “50 Making a Difference” award for the state of Oklahoma. Dr. Janet Cunningham, university president, and Dr. Deena Fisher, Northwestern-Woodward dean, formally will be recognized at a gala event in October in Oklahoma City.

Each year The Journal Record recognizes Oklahoma’s leading women by naming them as the “50 Making a Difference.” Out of the 50 women who are selected, one will be chosen as the Woman of the Year. Cunningham and Fisher recently were notified about the honor of being two of the “50 Making a Difference” in Oklahoma.

“I am very honored to be selected as part of this group,” Cunningham said. “I am so pleased that Northwestern has two women who are included.”

Cunningham and Fisher were notified recently of their nomination and were asked to complete an application to be considered for the award.

“I am so proud and honored to be considered as one of the ‘50 Making A Difference’ in the state of Oklahoma,” Fisher said.

Nominees for the “50 Making a Difference” and the Woman of the Year will be announced at the event in October. Attendees will be honored in a special magazine that also will serve as the program that evening.
