WINFIELD, Kan. (10-24-11) – Luis Pena paced the Northwestern Oklahoma State University men’s cross country team this past Saturday as they completed in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
In the race that featured over two hundred runners, Pena finished with a time of 28:49.20, a little over five minutes behind race winner Kennedy Kithuka of Wayland Baptist (Texas).
Conference rival Oklahoma Baptist claimed the team title with an average time of 25:24.52. Northwestern finished in the 19th spot.
Ethan Neal and Robert Robledo were next two Rangers to cross the finish line with time of 29:25.73 and 29:30.82 respectively.
About two minutes later, Chaunce Carrico finished at the 31:51.46 mark, while Scott Pendergraft was just one-second behind Carrico. Eric Trevleaven (32:47.16) and Michael Degan (38:10.30) rounded out the Northwestern runners in the field.
Northwestern takes to the course again on Nov. 5 as they wrap up their 2011 season in the Sooner Athletic Conference meet.
