Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Ranger Cheerleaders will host a cheer clinic on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon, in Percefull Fieldhouse for 3 and 4 year olds and grades K-5.
The clinic is $15 and open to both girls and boys and will be divided into two different times and age groups. From 9 - 10:30 a.m., 3 and 4 year olds will learn cheers, chants, jumps, stunts, tumbling and a dance to be performed that evening. From 9 a.m. to noon, K-5 will be taught the same things.
“It will be a great clinic because the kids can learn how much athletic ability and practice goes into being a cheerleader at Northwestern,” Chesnei Thomas, secretary of student services, said.
All participants will have the opportunity to perform at halftime of the men’s basketball game against University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) that evening.
“In advance, we would like to thank those who let their children participate, and remind them to have their child wear something red, black or white to the game that night,” Thomas said.
Lady Rangers begin at 6 p.m., with the Rangers playing at 8 p.m.
Contact Thomas at (580) 327-8566 or firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a registration form for this event.
