Charla Parker holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma Baptist University with a major in organ and a minor in voice. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Colorado State University with a major in music. Ms. Parker taught for five years in the Thompson Valley School District (Colorado), grades 1-12 vocal music; one year in the Hennessey, OK Public Schools, grades 3-6 vocal music; and 23 years in the Alva, OK Public Schools, primarily grades 6-9. She is currently retired from the Alva Public Schools, as well as from the position of Minister of Music at the First Baptist Church of Alva, a position that she held for 32 years.
Ms. Parker has taught in an adjunct capacity several times Northwestern, including teaching Music Education for Elementary Teachers, Secondary Methods and Materials in Music, Music History and Class Piano. Ms. Parker also maintains an extremely active private piano studio in Alva.
