Rangers Phi Beta Lambda

Northwestern's Phi Beta Lambda local chapter is just one of many State and National affiliates. Phi Beta Lambda, or PBL for short, is a college organization to further leadership amongst the business community. Students can get started in this organization in high school, under the organization name Future Business Leaders of America.

PBL has compiled some benefits of joining our membership. The reasons include:

  • Networking with companies and professional members of your community.
  • Tours of local businesses.
  • Travel to state and national conferences.
  • Enter state and national competitions.
  • Employers look for people who are outgoing and active.
  • Phi Beta Lambda is a good resource to list on a resume and scholarship applications.
  • Gain community service experience.
  • Acquire leadership skills.

NWOSU's chapter has a long standing trail of excellence. The organization holds regular meetings, participates in community service projects, enjoys putting on fundraisers and attends annual conferences on the State and National levels.

Sigma Beta Delta

Sigma Beta Delta is an honor society for students in accounting or business administration.  The Northwestern Oklahoma State University chapter was established in Spring 2010 with the first members inducted in Fall 2010.  Students must be invited to join this national honor society by the faculty of the Division of Business at NWOSU.

Membership shall be limited to those of high scholarship and of good moral character.  Sigma Beta Delta does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, national origin, political affiliation, race, religion or gender in the administration of membership or other programs.  Students must rank in the upper 20% of their class at the time of invitation to membership. A student may not be inducted until he/she has completed at least one-half of the degree program in which he/she is enrolled.  Transfer students who meet the qualifications for membership may be inducted after they have completed a minimum of one term of work in the division of business.

Student Advisory Council

In an effort to assure proper communication between students and faculty, the Division sponsors the Student Advisory Council (SAC).  The members of the Student Advisory Council are nominated by the fulltime Business faculty.  The SAC provides advise regarding the academic programs offered by the Division of Business to the division chair and faculty.  All members of the SAC shall serve a term coinciding with the academic year.  The SAC shall meet at least once a semester.

For the 2010-11 academic year the following students are members of the SAC: Georgia Walterscheidt, Bryce Brown, Amelia Thompson, Rachel Wilczek, Donna Tackett, CheoungSik Woo  and Wyatt Beauprez.  Any Business student who has a suggestion or concern they want the SAC to discuss with the chair and faculty should contact one of the SAC members.
