WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Northwestern Oklahoma State suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to NCAA Division II and long time rival Southwestern Oklahoma State, as the Bulldogs were able to hold onto a goal in the first half to hang onto the win.
Southwestern’s goal came in the 36th minute on unassisted goal from Samantha Dobson.
The Rangers were out shot 19-7 in the match as Southwestern landed eight shots on goal, while Northwestern didn’t record a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper Kelsey Archer posted seven saves playing the entire game.
The game was cleanly played, with Northwestern not guilty of a foul while the opposition picked up four fouls.
Northwestern (1-3, 1-0) will meet East Central University on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at the Alva Rec. Complex for a make up game from last Friday. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
