Dr. Roger Brown - Assistant Professor of Business


Roger BrownDr. Roger Brown is an Assistant Professor of Business with NWOSU's Division of Business. Dr. Brown has a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Texas Pan American (2014), a Masters in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin (2000) and a MBA from the University of Texas Pan American (2003).  His BS in Accounting was earned from the University of the West Indies (1996). 


Dr. Brown was an adjunct instructor with the University of Texas Pan American before joining the NWOSU business faculty on the Alva campus in 2013.  He teaches Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, International Business, and Cross-cultural Management. Other courses which Dr. Brown has taught include Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business, and Organizational Behavior. 

Research & Presentations:

Entrepreneurship, organizational behavior and international business topics are major interests for Dr. Brown.  His dissertation, "Does supervision's optimism pass on to their employees? The impact of supervision's optimism on employees in small and medium size businesses" is the latest in his research into Organizational Behavior topics. He presented his research, "Expatriate Adjustment: A Review" at the Annual Meeting of the Decision Science Institute in San Diego, CA (2010).

Membership & Activities:

Dr. Brown serves on the Planning Committee for the Division of Business, NWOSU's Scholarship Committee, and NWOSU's Diversity Committee. Dr. Brown has served as a member or officer in several organizations. As a former Treasurer of College Access Student Support Association (CASSA), Dr. Brown managed the financial records of this UTPA student scholarship organization.  He is currently a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, UNICEF, and the Academy of Management.

Professional Experience:

During his tenure with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dr. Brown was involved with auditing, compliance controls, job-costing, and income forecasting analysis. His largest auditing assignment involved $400 million of transactions. After leaving PricewaterhouseCoopers, Dr. Brown worked with the Combined Insurance Company before joining the Office of the Vice-President of Student Affairs at University of Texas-Pan America as an analyst of accounting policy.
