Mr. Roger Brown - Instructor of Business


Roger BrownMr. Roger Brown is an Instructor of Business with NWOSU's Division of Business.  Mr. Brown has a Master in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin (2000) and a MBA from the University of Texas Pan American (2003).  His BS in Accounting was earned from the University of the West Indies (1996).  He has completed his course work and comprehensive exams for the PhD in Business Administration from the University Texas Pan American.  His dissertation is completed and awaiting final approval from committee members.


Mr. Brown was an adjunct instructor with the University of Texas Pan American before joining the NWOSU business faculty on the Alva campus in 2013.  He teaches Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, International Business, and Cross-cultural Management.  Other courses which Mr. Brown has taught include Human Resources, Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Behavior.

Research Areas:

Entrepreneurship, organizational behavior and international business topics are major interests for Mr. Brown.  His dissertation, "Does entrepreneurial optimism pass on to their employees? The impact of entrepreneurial optimism on employees in small and medium size businesses" is the latest in his research into entrepreneurial topics.  He presented his research, "Expatriate Adjustment: A Review" at the Annual Meeting of the Decision Science Institute in San Diego, CA (2010).

Membership & Activities:

Mr. Brown serves on the Planning Committee for the Division of Business.   Mr. Brown has served as a member or officer in several organizations.  As a former Treasurer of College Access Student Support Association (CASSA), Mr. Brown managed the financial records of this UTPA student scholarship organization.  He is currently a member of the Golden Key Honor Society, UNICEF, Academy of Management, and Texas Association of Collegiate Testing Personnel. 

Professional Experience:

During his tenure with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Brown was involved with auditing, compliance controls, job-costing, and income forecasting analysis.  His largest auditing assignment involved $400 million of transactions.  After leaving PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Brown worked with the Combined Insurance Company before joining the Office of the Vice-President of Student Affairs at University of Texas-Pan America as an analyst of accounting policy.
