Northwestern's 'Big Event' postponed until April 4

March 25, 2009

Due to the possibility of inclement weather, the “Big Event” at Northwestern Oklahoma State University has been postponed until Saturday, April 4.

Janet Valencia, Conserving Our Ranger Environment (CORE) sponsor, said that event plans will stay the same, just a week later.
Alva volunteers will meet in the Education Center parking lot. The Northwestern-Enid group will meet at 8 a.m., in the front parking lot of the Northwestern-Enid campus. Northwestern-Woodward volunteers will meet at 10 a.m., in the front parking lot of the Northwestern-Woodward campus. Lunch will be provided at all three locations.

“The Big Event” is a nationally recognized function with the purpose to strengthen the relationship between the university and the communities it serves while creating positive change. This event offers the opportunity for student organizations, and faculty and staff to work together on a wide variety of projects to better the university and community. Such projects might include: planting trees, improving parks, interior/exterior painting, picking up trash, light construction, etc.

Contact sponsors Dr. Steven Mackie at or (580) 327-8452 or Valencia at or (580) 327-8476 with questions. On the Enid campus, contact Lori Coonrod at or (580) 213-3174, and contact the Woodward campus at (580) 254-2500.

This event is sponsored by CORE, Student Government Association, Northwestern and the President’s Association.
