Benefit Bake sale for Bradley planned for June 2; other fundraisers planned

May 29, 2012

A Benefit Bake Sale for Bradley Gilbert, a 2007 Northwestern Oklahoma State University mass communications graduate from Enid, is planned by the NWOSU Art Society (NAS) for Saturday, June 2, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in front of Holder Drug in downtown Alva.

Gilbert has been fighting leukemia since shortly after his graduation from Northwestern. He underwent a bone marrow transplant in December 2011; however, the cancer has returned, and he is now battling the leukemia once again and continuing treatment.

“Bradley is an alum of our organization, and we decided we needed to do something to help him and his family,” said Angelia Case, NAS sponsor. “Whatever proceeds we can bring in at the bake sale will go to help them with bills, travel expenses and well, whatever Bradley needs it for.”

Case welcomes donations of money, as well as items for the bake sale.

“We are guessing that it will be a hot, sunny day so please keep that in mind if you’ll be providing items for our bake sale,” Case said. “Otherwise, please come make a donation and pick up a goody or two. We appreciate your generosity so much.”

Alva Hawaiian Ice also is helping with fundraising efforts on Saturday, June 2. For every large snow cone purchased between 2 and 10 p.m. on this day, they will donate $1 to Bradley.

“NAS is thrilled that Alva Hawaiian Ice is able to help us raise funds for Bradley,” Case said. “Please help Bradley by supporting their fundraising effort.”

NAS also is planning a rummage sale on Saturday, June 23, at the Runnymede Hotel and would appreciate the public’s help in providing items for this sale. All items may be taken to the Runnymede during the afternoon on Friday, June 22.
