Dear Northwestern Community,

Student Council Camp

The Oklahoma Association of Student Councils would like to thank the Administration of Northwestern Oklahoma State University for allowing us to hold our BASIC Student Council Workshop on their campus again this summer. Once again the administration needs to be commended for its hospitality and genuine interest and support. We definitely felt welcomed by everyone on the campus and the community.

We appreciated Dr. Cunningham taking time out of her busy schedule to welcome the students and staff. We would also like to thank the NWOSU Alumni Association for the water bottles for our staff.

The leadership and teamwork that the NWOSU administration and staff exhibited was extraordinary and was very evident once again to the OASC staff. As Director of Facilities for the OASC workshops, I was privileged to work with many people on the NWOSU campus and believe that they need to be publicly praised for their efforts.

First of all, I would like to thank Marc Wallace for all the time and support he gave to OASC to help make this workshop successful. Any time I needed anything, he was right there to help or knew whom to contact.

Next, I would like to say thank you to Ted, Greg and the staff at Chartwells for a week filled with outstanding food and excellent service. Our students and staff definitely did not go hungry, and everyone remarked about how great the food was.

Our two Resident Advisors, Kellie Badley and Kasey Adair, were remarkable. I can’t say enough about these 2 ladies and how much they mean to us.

I would also like to thank all of the custodial staff for all the behind-the-scenes work and extra time they put in to make us comfortable.

Thanks also to Angelia Case for helping us with our AV needs, and to Curtis Diel for keeping us safe.

Another group of people who I would like to thank are the professors who have offices in Jesse Dunn and the coaches who are in the athletic building. We appreciate you allowing us to more or less take over your buildings and gym for the week. Everyone was so helpful and friendly.

Last but not least, the community of Alva was so friendly and embraced us with open arms. I would like to say a special thank you to Stan Kline at K&K Body Shop for the extra special attention that he gave to one of our staff members. From the Alva Market to the Kiwanis, there are so many that I need to thank. However, I am afraid that I might leave someone out, so please accept this appreciation of gratitude and thank you to the entire community. Your kindness did not go unnoticed.

If it had not been for Karen Koehn sharing such positive information about this wonderful university and community with the OASC, we never would have found this great place to host our workshop. I truly hope that our relationship with NWOSU and the community of Alva will last for a long time. Even though there was construction in the Student Center and the cafeteria, it didn’t detract from the students and staff having a great workshop. Instead, we look at the construction as positive progress for the university and are looking forward to seeing the finished product when we return next summer.

Thank you again for helping to make a successful workshop for the students of Oklahoma. The student leaders of Oklahoma are blessed to have had this opportunity.

Sincerely,
Kristi Neerman, Director of Facilities, OASC BASIC Workshops
