Northwestern Oklahoma State pitcher Clay Thomas was named the inaugural Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, as he was named so for February 1-7.

Thomas, a junior right-hander from Arlington, Texas, tossed a one-hit shutout in the Rangers’ season opener against Dallas Christian. He registered seven strikeouts and two walks in six innings, while the Rangers defeated the Crusaders 7-0.

DALLAS, Tex. – The Ranger baseball team started off their season with a bang, with three wins against Dallas Christian, including two shutouts. Northwestern won the opener 7-0 on Saturday and defeated the Crusaders 15-4 and 11-0 on Sunday.

Northwestern baseball’s season opener with Dallas Christian has been pushed back a day due to rain in the Dallas, Texas area. Instead of playing Friday and Saturday, the Rangers will now play Saturday, Feb. 6 and Sunday Feb. 7. Both dates are scheduled for doubleheaders beginning at noon.

The sounds of construction continue to fill the air at Northwestern Oklahoma State University as workers are busily working to complete major renovations at the school’s football and baseball stadiums.
