Milburn Barton, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University head women’s basketball coach, signed Caitlin Smith of Garden City to a letter of intent to play for the Lady Rangers in the upcoming 2008-09 season.
Smith, a 5-7 guard, played four seasons at Garden City High School and will graduate this May. She was a three-year starter and letterman and placed herself among the best in school history with her playing ability.
Caitlin averaged 9.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.8 steals per game during her senior season. She ranks highly in several career statistical categories including: first in assists (193), second in rebounds (387), third in games played (65), fourth in steals (149) and seventh in points (539).
Smith was a three-time all-conference performer and two-time all-area selection. She was a member of the Academic All-State Team and was the team’s Most Valuable Player during her junior and senior years.
