Fourteen bands will march around the square during Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Homecoming parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25.

Northwestern band director Dr. Michael Stone is thrilled to have more bands participate this year. In addition to Northwestern’s marching band, junior high and high school bands are coming from the states of Oklahoma and Kansas.

Those bands marching and their directors, listed by class, are:

Junior High A – Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Junior High School, Sherri Lohmann; Southwestern Heights Junior High, Erika Clausing; Chisholm Middle School, Richard Stallcup; and Medicine Lodge Kan., Junior High, Doug Hanna.

Class AA – Vici High School, Amy Chase; Ringwood High School, Jim Pearce; Hooker High School, Angela Flanagan; and Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Junior High School, Lohmann.

Class AAA – Hennessey High School, Adam Steuart; Chisholm High School, Randy Johnson; and Watonga High School, Bryan Pope.

Class AAAA - Alva High School, Mike Connor; and Weatherford High School, Bud Lamke.

Several directors leading their bands in the parade are Northwestern alumni. They include Chase, class of 2010; Conner, class of 1977; Lohmann, class of 2000; Pope, class of 2003, and Steuart, class of 2007.

Northwestern, Alva, Chisholm, Hennessey, Hooker, Medicine Lodge, Southwestern Heights, Watonga and Weatherford will present mini-concerts on the band stage immediately following the parade. Band and float awards will be announced at that time.

The bands who participated in the mini-concerts, along with Chisholm Middle School and Vici, will gather on Ranger Field during halftime of the Homecoming football game with Texas College to present a massed band performance of a rendition of “Soak Up the Sun.” Game time is set for 3 p.m.
