Bands to march in Homecoming parade, participate in massed band

Fifteen bands will march around the square during Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s Homecoming parade at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 1.

Northwestern band director Dr. Michael Stone is thrilled to have more bands participate this year. In addition to Northwestern’s marching band, junior high and high school bands are coming from the states of Oklahoma and Kansas.

Those bands marching and their directors, listed by class, are:

Junior High A – Chisholm Middle School, Richard Stallcup; Kismet-Southwestern Heights Middle School (Kan.), Erika Clausing; and Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Junior Middle School, Sherri Lohmann.

Class AA – Corn Bible Academy, Charles Regier; Hooker High School, Angela Flanagan; Medicine Lodge (Kan.) High School, Doug Hanna; Pond Creek-Hunter High School, Jim Pearce; Ringwood High School, Hank Nichols; and Waukomis High School, Kyle Stewart.

Class AAA – Chisholm High School, Randy Johnson; Pioneer-Pleasant Vale High School, Lohmann; and Watonga High School, Bryan Pope.

Class AAAA - Alva High School, Mike Conner; and Weatherford High School, Bud Lamke.
Several directors leading their bands in the parade are Northwestern alumni. They include Conner, class of 1977; Lohmann, class of 2000; and Pope, class of 2003 and 2006.

Northwestern, Chisholm, Corn, Kismet-Southwestern Heights, Ringwood, Watonga and Weatherford will present mini-concerts on the band stage immediately following the parade. Band and float awards will be announced at that time.

Several bands will gather on Ranger Field during halftime of the Homecoming football game with Missouri University of Science and Technology to present a massed band performance of “The Riverdance Show.” Game time is set for 3 p.m.
