Austin Meyer, Alva senior majoring in political science, has been selected to represent Northwestern Oklahoma State University as this year’s Civic Education Fellowship Award recipient.
He will serve as an intern for Sen. Bryce Marlatt in the Oklahoma State Legislature during the last two weeks of the current legislative session.
Meyer believes that all college students should participate in civic life and become well-versed in civic and political affairs. He said he also is looking forward to spending time at the Oklahoma State Capitol during the last few days of the current session.
Meyer is the second Civic Education Fellow to be awarded the designation by the Social Sciences Department at Northwestern.
In the future, Meyer plans to pursue a career in the public service field after attending law school.
