    NORTHWESTERN FORMS TASK FORCE TO EXAMINE PROCEDURES DEALING WITH ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITYA task force comprised of various groups at Northwestern Oklahoma State University has been appointed to examine the school’s procedures dealing with the eligibility of student-athletes.

    Dr. Janet Cunningham, president of Northwestern, said the task force will be charged with examining current procedures for determining initial eligibility, maintaining eligibility through academic progress and the assignment of responsibilities for eligibility. She has instructed the task force to submit recommendations for strengthening eligibility procedures to her office by Feb. 27, 2009.

    RANGERS TAKE TWO AT LEWIS-CLARK CLASSIC; DEFEAT #22 WARRIORSLEWISTON, Idaho – Northwestern Oklahoma State downed the NAIA’s No. 22 ranked team, Lewis-Clark State (Idaho), 82-66 on Saturday, after defeating Great Falls University 94-69 on Friday at the Lewis-Clark Classic to advance to 5-4 on the season.

    On Friday against Great Falls, Northwestern had its highest output of the season in the 94-69 victory. The Rangers shot 46 percent and used the bench for 49 points.

    NORTHWESTERN TO FORFEIT REGULAR SEASON, PLAYOFF VICTORIES DUE TO ELIGIBILITY VIOLATIONSNorthwestern Oklahoma State University today informed the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics that its football team will forfeit three games due to the use of ineligible players.

    Because of the violations, Northwestern will not participate in its scheduled NAIA Football Championship Series quarterfinal game at Carroll College (Mont.) on Saturday.

    NORTHWESTERN MEN FALL TO OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN IN SAC OPENERLEWISTON, Idaho – The Northwestern men’s basketball team fell 69-57 to Oklahoma Christian in Edmond during the Rangers first Sooner Athletic Conference game of the season.Northwestern shot 37 percent on the night, while the Eagles hit 44 percent.

    Both teams hit 12 three-point buckets and OC was 17-of-23 from the free throw line, while Northwestern was 9-of-15.

    LADY RANGERS DROP SAC OPENEREDMOND, Okla. – The Northwestern Lady Ranger basketball team fell 66-45 in their Sooner Athletic Conference opener in Edmond on Monday to drop to 4-2 overall on the season.
