ALVA NATIVE JOINS LADY RANGER GOLF TEAM
Northwestern
Oklahoma State University’s men’s and women’s golf coach,
Mike Hood, announced the addition of Emilee Beard of Alva
for the 2008-09 season. Beard recently signed a letter of
intent to play for the women’s team.
Beard, who will graduate from Alva High School in May,
played prep golf under Alva High School Principal and Golf
Coach Steve Parkhurst. A three-sport athlete for the
Goldbugs, Beard played softball and basketball in addition
to golf.
Emilee was a state qualifier for golf during the 2006 and
2007 seasons. She was also on the Goldbug basketball team
that was district champions from 2004-07.
Beard is a member of Who’s Who Among American High School
Students and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership
Camp.
Emilee’s parents are David and Rinda Beard of Alva.

EDMOND, Okla. – The Lady Ranger golf team closed out
their season at the Region VI Tournament on Monday and
Tuesday as they competed in the Region VI Tournament at the
par-72, 6,150-yard Rose Creek Golf Course in Edmond. The
Rangers finished seventh with a team score of 749.
The Oklahoma City
University Stars claimed the 2008 NAIA Region VI tournament
championship with a team total of 631, finishing 27 strokes
ahead of second place Lubbock Christian University. LCU
came in second with a team total of 658.
Individually, Patti Ladd led the way with an
89-94—183 and finished in 28th place in
the field of 38. Cari Hall shot a 92-93—185, putting
her in 30th, while Laci Boley was a
stroke behind with a 90-96—186. Meghan Carey
finished in a tie for 34th with a pair of
98’s for a 196 total and Linda Ladd carded a
97-105—202.

WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM PLACES FOURTH AT OBU INVITATIONAL

SHAWNEE, Okla. –
The Northwestern women’s
golf team took fourth place at the Oklahoma Baptist Bison
Invitational played at the par-71 Shawnee Country Club on
April 7 and 8. The Lady Rangers shot 366 on Monday and a 369
on Tuesday, for a grand total of 735. Northwestern finished
behind the hosts and tournament winner Southern Nazarene,
who shot a 676 and behind William Woods (Mo.) and NCAA
Division II Dallas Baptist.
Linda Ladd had the low score for the Lady Rangers and
finished in a tie for 11th with an 88-90—178. Her
sister, Patty, carded an 89-94—183 that was good enough for
a tie for 14th. Laci Boley was in a tie for 19th,
shooting a 92-95—187. Cari Hall turned in a 191, putting her
in a tie for 23rd and Meghan Carey tied for 31st
with a 199.
Northwestern’s final golf outing of the season will be
Region VI Tournament on April 28-29.

GARDEN CITY, Kan. –
The Northwestern women’s
golf team kicked off the Spring season with a second place
finish at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Spring
Invitational played at the Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in
Garden City, Kan. on March 25-26. Northwestern was just a
shot shy of Adams State College, the winning team, who shot
a 677 for first place.
In
the 39 player field, Laci Boley paced the Rangers with a
fourth place finish, shooting 79-84—163. Linda Ladd wasn’t
far behind, tying for sixth place with an 81-85—165. Cari
Hall shot an 86 on both days and ended in a tie for 12th,
while Meghan Carey shot an 86-91—177 that put her in a tie
for 16th. Patti Ladd rounded out the scores with
a 86-92—178.
The
Lady Ranger golf team will next be in action on April 7-8 at
the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Invitational played at
the Shawnee Country Club in Shawnee.

WOMEN’S GOLF FINISHES FOURTH AT LON MORRIS
JACKSONVILLE,
Tex. –
The Northwestern
women’s golf team took fourth place at the Lon
Morris College Fall Invitational played at The Woods
at Jacksonville in their final tournament of the
fall. The Lady Rangers team posted a 755 two-day
total, just nine strokes shy of third place
Schreiner University, at the par-73, 5,922-yard
course.
In
the 21 player field, Laci Boley led NWOSU with a 94-90—184
for a 14th place finish. Northwestern also took
15th and 16th place as Meghan Carey
shot a 96-94—187 and Cari Hall turned in a 99-91—190. The
Ladd sisters, Patti and Linda rounded out the field of Lady
Rangers. Patti shot a 105-89—194, while Linda recorded a
122-120—242.
The
Lady Ranger golf team will break until the spring season
starts.

Patti
Ladd led the Lady Ranger golf team with a second
place finish at the Oklahoma Panhandle State
Invitational played at Sunset Hills Golf Course in
Guymon on October 1 and 2, as the Rangers defeated
the OPSU Aggies by 49 strokes.
Ladd
shot an 86 on Monday to tie the low round and then fired an
89, putting her three shots from being the medalist. Tying
for third was Laci Boly, who shot 88-89—177 and Meghan Carey
came in fifth with a 93-89—182. Linda Ladd finished with a
93-91—184 and Bianca Cooks carded a 99-95—194.
The
Lady Ranger golf team will next compete at The Woods in
Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Tex. on October 8 and 9.

GOLF TEAM FINISHES FIRST AT CENTRAL CHRISTIAN;

MCPHERSON, Kan. –
The
Northwestern women’s golf team took first place at
the six-team Central Christian Invitational on
September 24 and 25 at Turkey Creek Golf Course in
McPherson, Kan., while the Ranger men finished
third.
Patti Ladd carded an 85-86—171 to take third place in the
tournament. Laci Boley and Meghan Carey finished third and
fourth, respectively.
The
Ranger men finished in third place, behind first place
Bethany (Kan.) College and second place MidAmerica Christian
(Kan.). Tom Shaw shot the low round for NWOSU with a
72-81—153 and J.J. Fournier tied for fifth place, but
finished sixth after a scorecard playoff.
Both
the men and women will play at Sunset Hills Golf Course in
Guymon at the Oklahoma Panhandle State Invitational on
October 1 and 2.
NORTHWESTERN WOMEN’S GOLF RESULTS FROM
SOUTHERN NAZARENE INVITATIONAL
EDMOND, Okla. –
The Lady Ranger golf team
finished 14th in the 15-team Southern Nazarene
Invitational played at Rose Creek Golf Course on September
17 and 18.
Meghan Carey shot the best score for the Rangers. She carded
a 95-92-187 for the two days, putting her in 59th
place. Patti Ladd landed in 62nd with a 98-94-192
and her sister, Linda Ladd, wasn’t far behind with a
95-99-194. Laci Boley shot a 196 and Bianca Cooks posted a
219.
Oklahoma City University won the event by 10 strokes over
Redlands Community College. The Rangers finished just three
shots shy of Oklahoma Baptist University.
The
next tournament for the Ranger women will be on September
24-25 at McPherson, Kan.

LADY RANGER GOLF TEAM PLACES FOUR IN
TOP FIVE AT DODGE CITY
DODGE CITY, Kan.
– The
Northwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf
team placed four golfers in the top five at the
Dodge City Community College Invitational played on
August 27 and 28.
Patti Ladd led
the Rangers and took second in the tournament after
carding a 94-93—187. She was followed closely behind
by Megan Carey’s 95-93—188, that took third place.
Laci Boley and Linda Ladd both shot a 190 for the
tournament and finished tied for fifth place. Bianca
Cook rounded out the scoring with a seventh place
finish and a 198.
The Northwestern
women will play their next tournament at Rose Creek
Golf Club on September 17 and 18. The event is
hosted by Southern Nazarene.

THREE LADY RANGER GOLFERS COMPETE AT
NAIA REGION VI TOURNAMENT
LUBBOCK, Tex. –
The
Lady Rangers golf team was forced to play as three
individuals at the NAIA Region VI Golf Tournament on
April 16 and 17, due to an injury in the first round
to Lady Ranger golfer, Brittany Winters. Patty Ladd,
Laci Boley and Danielle Stebens competed as
individuals at the Rawls Course on the Texas Tech
University Campus in Lubbock, Tex.
All three golfers
improved their scores during the second round, with
Patty Ladd pacing the Rangers with a 95-91—186,
putting her in 29th place in the field of
40 golfers. Laci Boley finished in 37th
with a 100-99—199 and Danielle Stebens wasn’t far
behind, carding a 102-99—201 and taking 38th.

LADY RANGER GOLF TEAM PLACES EIGHTH
AT BISON INVITATIONAL
WINFIELD, Kan. –
After
competing for two days at the Bison Invitation,
hosted by Oklahoma Baptist University, Northwestern
Oklahoma State’s women’s golf team remained in
eighth place during both days of competition out of
10 teams. The Rangers shot an 809, just nine strokes
off of seventh place, at the 6,041 yard, par-71
Shawnee Country Club.
Leading the way
was Brittany Winters with a 92-89—181, that put her
in a tie for 18th. Patty Ladd shot a
94-97—191 that was good enough for 28th
place. Laci Boley finished in a tie for 36th
with a 102-100-202 and Danielle Stebens was 43rd
after carding a 121-114—235.
The women’s golf
team will finish their season on April 16-17 at the
NAIA Region VI tournament at The Rawls Course in
Lubbock, Texas.

Country Club in Winfield, Kan. during March 26 and
27.
Patty Ladd lead
the charge for Northwestern with a 95-100—195 that
was good enough for 17th place. Laci
Boley finished right behind Ladd after shooting a
101-97—198 that put her in a tie for 18th.
Brittany Winters placed 21st with a 200
and Danielle Stebens shot a 230, putting her No. 27.
Next up for the
women’s golf team will be played on April 2-3 at the
Bluebonnet Classic in Granbury, Tex.

McPHERSON, Kan. –
Brittany Winters and Patty Ladd finished in the top
four while Laci Boley finished tied for 12th
at the Central Christian College Fall Invitational
at McPherson, Kansas. The tournament was held at the
par 70 Turkey Creek Golf Course on September 25 and
26.
Winters was just
two shots behind the leader, with a two-day total of
178. Ladd posted a 184 and tied for fourth. Tied for
12th with a 192 was Laci Boley with a 192
total.
The next tournament the women’s golf team will
participate in will be at Sunset Hills Golf Course
in Guymon, Oklahoma on October 2 and 3.

WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM TAKES THREE OF TOP
FIVE IN DODGE CITY INVITATIONAL
DODGE
CITY, Kan. –
Playing in their
first tournament of the year, all three of the
Northwestern women golfers placed within the top
five at the par-71, 6,171-yard Dodge City
Invitational, which took place on September 18 and
19 at the Dodge City Country Club.
In her first
tournament for the Rangers, Patty Ladd took home
medalist honors with a two-round score of 184. Ladd,
a junior from Strother, carded a 93 in the first
round and improved during the second round, shooting
a 91.
Mooreland
freshman Brittany Winters finished in second place
and was just a stroke behind from Ladd, with a 185
stroke total. Laci Bailey took fifth place after a
scorecard play-off, shooting a 187.
Both the men’s
and women’s teams will travel to McPherson, Kan. to
play at the Central Christian Invitational at Turkey
Creek Golf Course on September 25 and 26.

WOMEN’S GOLF SIGNS ALL-STATER
ALVA,
Okla. –
Northwestern golf
coach Mike Hood announced the signing of Brittany
Winters, a 2006 May graduate from Mooreland, that
will compete in women’s golf for the upcoming
2006-07 golf season.
While at
Mooreland High School, Winters was a member of the
three-time 2A State Championship Lady Bearcat golf
team. Over the past three seasons, she received top
ten honors, including an eighth place finish in this
year’s state tournament. She was named to the
All-State golf team this past summer and has also
been listed on the Principal’s Honor Roll.
Brittany, the
daughter of J.T. and Betsy Winters of Mooreland,
plans to major in elementary education while at
Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
