Mike Hood begins his second season as the head coach of the Ranger and Lady Ranger golf teams. Hood is the newest member to the Rangers’ athletic staff, joining during the Spring of 2006.

Currently an insurance agent at The Schuessler Agency in Alva, Hood graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1986 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. He played a year of golf at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha before finishing his academic career at Oklahoma State University.

After his college graduation, Hood served as a representative for Pitney Bowes from 1987 to 1991. He then turned to the banking industry and worked in Chickasha and Durant until 1996. Before moving to Alva in 2001, Hood was employed by Edward Jones in Burkburnett, Texas.

Hood has captured the Club Championship at Alva Golf and Country Club in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Mike resides in Alva with his wife Brenda and two children, Davis (18) and Heather (16), who both attend Alva High School.
