All winning entries will move to the Runnymede Hotel for a two-day show Monday and Tuesday that is free and open to the public. A reception for the artists and public will be Monday at 7 p.m.

The Seventh Annual Northwestern Oklahoma State University Art Society (NAS) Art Show is open through Saturday in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus. All winning entries will then be moved to a special show downtown at the Runnymede Hotel on April 26 and 27.

More than 300 pieces of art have been on display in the library making this year’s art show the largest one so far. Art pieces submitted are from Northwestern students, employees, retirees, and new this year, alumni.

“If you haven’t been able to attend the show while it’s been up on campus, you have an opportunity to see the best of the best when it arrives at the Runnymede,” said Angelia Case, NAS sponsor. “I thank Dr. Ken Brown for allowing us to continue to bring our winning pieces downtown to share with the general public.”

Both shows are free and open to the public. The items may be viewed on campus during the library’s regular hours. The Runnymede show will be from noon to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 26, with a reception for artists and the public from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The show also is open downtown on Tuesday, April 27, from noon to 6 p.m.

Like the campus show, guests attending the Runnymede show are encouraged to vote for the artwork they like best for a “People’s Choice” award.

As for the on-campus show, judges have determined first through third place honors for students and employees/retires/alumni in all categories, divisions and the “Best of Show” from among entries in the on-campus show.

The student Best of Show winner is Sammi Pfleider, Cherokee senior, with a photograph of “Gage Burshears.” The employee Best of Show winner is Valarie Case, university relations specialist, with a photomanipulation titled “Stormy.” Case also was named the winner of the “ReUse, Recycle, ReArt” category with “From Boxes to Blocks,” a log cabin quilt block wall-hanging made with discarded packaging from frozen foods and other products.

A complete list of winners is available at www.nwosu.edu/nas-art-show.

Non-placing entries in the campus show must be picked up before 5:30 p.m. Monday from the Media Services Office, second floor of the library.

Artwork at the Runnymede show may be picked up following the show at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. A final opportunity to pick up entries will be at the Media Services Office, second floor of the library on Wednesday.
