“Ivy Crest – A Dollhouse” by Lisa Herning, J.W. Martin Library assistant, was judged as the Best of Show among employee entries in the Northwestern Art Society’s Sixth Annual Art Show. All winning entries will move to the Runnymede Hotel for a two-day show Monday and Tuesday that is free and open to the public. A reception for the artists and public will be Monday at 7 p.m.
“Mushroom” by Dana Miller, Alva sophomore, was chosen as this year’s Best of Show among student entries in the Northwestern Art Society’s Sixth Annual Art Show.
“Two Pocket Recycled Shopping Bag” crocheted by Kristy San Soucie, adjunct instructor in E-commerce, was judged as the winner in the ReUse, Recycle, ReArt category in the Northwestern Art Society’s Sixth Annual Art Show.
The Sixth Annual Northwestern Art Society (NAS) Art Show is open through Saturday in the J.W. Martin Library on the Alva campus. All winning entries will then be moved to a show downtown at the Runnymede Hotel on April 27 and 28.
University students, as well as current and retired employees of Northwestern have a number of items on display, including oil and water color paintings, pencil drawings and photographs, which seems to be the favorite entry category.
“We have photos entered in every category we offered, so I hope people will come to the library to view the work of the talented people we have at Northwestern,” said Angelia Case, NAS sponsor. “If you miss the show on campus, please visit the winners’ show at the Runnymede.”
Both shows are free and open to the public. The items may be viewed on campus during the library’s regular hours. The Runnymede show will be from noon to 9 p.m. on April 27 with a reception for artists and the public from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The show also is open downtown on April 28 from noon to 6 p.m.
Like the campus show, guests attending the Runnymede show are encouraged to vote for the artwork they like best for a “People’s Choice” award during the Runnymede show.
Judges have determined first through third place honors for students and employees in all categories, divisions and the “Best of Show” from among entries in the on-campus show.
The student Best of Show winner is Dana Miller, Alva sophomore, with a photograph of a “Mushroom.” The employee Best of Show is Lisa Herning, library assistant, with “Ivy Crest – A Dollhouse.” The winner of the “ReUse, Recycle, ReArt” category is Kristy San Soucie, adjunct instructor in E-commerce, with “Two Pocket Recycled Shopping Bag,” a bag crocheted out of plastic grocery bags. A complete list of winners is available at www.nwosu.edu/nas-art-show.
Non-placing entries in the campus show must be picked up before 6 p.m. Monday from the Media Services Office, second floor of the library.
Artwork at the Runnymede show may be picked up following the show at 6 p.m. on Tuesday. A final opportunity to pick up entries at the Runnymede will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m.
