Andrew Brown, head basketball coach at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, recently announced the signing of Eze Akwari of Houston, Texas. Akwari will enter as a freshman for the 2009-10 Ranger basketball season.
As a senior at Chavez High School, the 6-1 wing averaged 13 points, six rebounds and two steals per game. He hit 38 percent from three-point range and was a 51 percent field goal shooter. Akwari was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year for Chavez High School and was a second-team all-district selection.
“Eze has a lot of upside as a college basketball player,” stated Brown. “He is a very good athlete who finishes well at the rim and shoots the three well. We also like the fact that he brings great energy, toughness and a winning attitude.”
