February 6, 2013 -- The social work program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University has been awarded a $20,000 grant by the Child Welfare Professional Enhancement Program (CWPEP) to construct a Social Work Education and Training Center in Jesse Dunn 307 to be completed in the summer of 2013.

September 25, 2012 -- Northwestern Oklahoma State University has received a five-year, $1.25 million renewal of its Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) grant from the U.S. Department of Education, allowing the institution to continue its work with select area public schools to improve high school graduation rates and encourage students to pursue higher education options.

Dr. Steven Maier, chair of the Department of Natural Science at Northwestern Oklahoma State University, received a $71,023 grant sponsored by the Oklahoma Regents for Higher Education to provide 40 hours of professional development to 30 primary and secondary teachers in the areas of physics and physical science. The grant will reach northwest Oklahoma schools in high-need areas.

Students majoring in the new agriculture education program at Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be eligible to receive some financial assistance thanks to a recently established scholarship endowment by the Wisdom Family Foundation. The Foundation presented Northwestern with a $205,000 gift, with $200,000 establishing the endowment and $5,000 to be awarded for the academic year beginning in the fall.
