An Open Letter To Parents

There are many reasons for you to feel good about supporting your son's interest in Acacia. As alumni members of Acacia Fraternity, we can assure you that if he becomes a member of Acacia he will have unparalleled opportunities to develop or expand his leadership abilities.

Progressive fraternities such as Acacia understand that many people have negative opinions about our organizations, and that some of those opinions may even be well founded. Upon hearing that their son is considering a fraternity it is not uncommon for parents to become concerned, imagining their son in an environment such as the one portrayed in the movie "Animal House," or more recently on MTV's "Fraternity Life." No one would want his or her son in that kind of environment — including us.

Acacia's focus is on providing your son with opportunities to develop his full potential without having a negative impact on his all-important academic responsibilities. We also take a hard line against hazing in any form as well as any illegal activities, including underage consumption of alcohol. In fact, on campuses where Acacia offers housing, our national policy stipulates that alcohol is absolutely prohibited on the premises.

By providing young men with the tools and positive role models for making the transition to adulthood, Acacia builds better men, not just during college but beyond. And that's as true today as it was 100 years ago when our fraternity was founded.

If at any time you have any questions or concerns about your son's experience with Acacia Fraternity we would be happy to address them. Just send us a message as to the best way to get in touch with you and we'll do so right away.

Sincerely,
