The Beginning of a Colony
n Spring of 2001, NWOSU extended invitations to all national men’s greek fraternities, asking if their organization would be interested in colonizing NWOSU’s Alva campus.
First contact with Acacia Fraternity happened when Chad Dimmick contacted us and took a group of guys out to eat.
In the Summer of 2002, International Headquarters contacted Travis Biaggi in order to ascertain if it would be possible for them to send a couple of representatives to the NWOSU Alva campus during the fall semester of 2002. Later that year, in September, leadership consultants Blake Hutchinson and Nick Churchill arrive at NWOSU and immediately began to plan events to fire up interest. They arranged a cookout with the UCO chapter, and they also planned several sporting events (basketball, flag-football, etc.). They continued to host various events and planned luncheons with prospective pledges. After bids were extended, 16 guys put their signatures into the pledge book. Eleven men were inducted as actives, and one (Travis Biaggi) as an honorary member to serve as the chapter advisor.
