CURRIE SIGNS LETTER OF INTENT WITH RANGER BASKETBALL

The signing of Catrell Currie, a junior college transfer from McLennan (Tex.) Community College, has been announced by Northwestern Oklahoma State University head men’s basketball coach Andrew Brown.

Currie, a 6-0 combo guard, averaged 10 points per game and shot 39 percent from three-point range during last season under the direction of Kevin Gill. He shot 95% from the free throw line. (Read More)

NAMED HEAD COACH AT GRAMBLING

Grambling State will hire Donnita Drain, Langston University's all-time winningest coach, to take over its struggling women's basketball program.

Drain has led the Lady Lions to nine consecutive winning seasons, five national NAIA championship appearances and twice been named conference coach of the year. During her time at the Oklahoma program, she has also coached three All-Americans.

ALVA NATIVE JOINS LADY RANGER GOLF TEAM

Northwestern Oklahoma State University’s men’s and women’s golf coach, Mike Hood, announced the addition of Emilee Beard of Alva for the 2008-09 season. Beard recently signed a letter of intent to play for the women’s team. 

Beard, who will graduate from Alva High School in May, played prep golf under Alva High School Principal and Golf Coach Steve Parkhurst. A three-sport athlete for the Goldbugs, Beard played softball and basketball in addition to golf. (Read More)


BARTON SIGNS GARDEN CITY SENIOR

Milburn Barton, the Northwestern Oklahoma State University head women’s basketball coach, signed Caitlin Smith of Garden City to a letter of intent to play for the Lady Rangers in the upcoming 2008-09 season.

Smith, a 5-7 guard, played four seasons at Garden City High School and will graduate this May. She was a three-year starter and letterman and placed herself among the best in school history with her playing ability. (Read More)


RANGER BASKETBALL
ANNOUNCES BRANDON DIXON SIGNING

Northwestern Oklahoma State Ranger basketball head coach Andrew Brown recently  announced the signing of Brandon Dixon, a transfer from Ventura College (Calif.), who will join the Ranger basketball team for the 2008-09 season.

Dixon, a 6-7 forward, averaged 16.8 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, while helping the Pirates to a 26-7 record. He played in 32 games and shot 49 percent (219/445) from the field. (Read More)
