RANGER BASKETBALL FINISHES RECRUITING CLASS
WITH EIGHT NEW PROSPECTS

The Northwestern Oklahoma State University men’s basketball program announces the signing of Daryl Glover from Ingelwood, Calif. to round out the 2008 recruiting class.  Glover is a 5-10 combo guard from Morningside High School where he led his team in scoring as a senior with 19 points per contest. 

The Rangers finished their recruiting efforts with eight new faces, five freshman and three transfers. “I like the mix of our recruiting class, we brought in transfers that will bring us an immediate impact and a group of freshman that will very much help us down the road,” exclaimed Brown. MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SUSPENDED
FROM POSTSEASON COMPETITION

Northwestern Oklahoma State University has been informed by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) that its men’s cross country team will not be allowed to compete in postseason competition for the 2008 season for failing to meet competition standards in 2007. (Read More)


HASTINGS SNEAKS PAST RANGERS IN SOCCER OPENER

ALVA, Okla. – The Ranger soccer team began the 2008 season with a tough loss at the ARC Ranger Soccer Field on Saturday, August 30. Northwestern was defeated 1-0 as Hastings College (Neb.) converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute of the contest.

In front of a crowd of 181, the Rangers held their own despite being outshot 26-12. Goalkeeper Kelsey Archer came up with six saves while Hastings only landed seven shots on goal. Northwestern, however, landed half of their 12 shots on goal. (Read More)


RANGERS DROP OPENER TO RIVAL SOUTHWESTERN

ALVA, Okla. – In its first game of the 2008 football season, 15th ranked Northwestern Oklahoma State University fell 29-15 at Ranger Field to longtime rival NCAA Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

The Rangers opened the game up with a commanding drive that ate up over six minutes and took Northwestern 65 yards on 13 plays. Northwestern converted six first downs on the opening stanza, before Southwestern picked off Barefield’s pass in the end zone with the Rangers sitting on a second-and-goal. (Read More)


TAILGATE FOR FIRST
NORTHWESTERN FOOTBALL GAME PLANNED

The Alumni Association has scheduled a free tailgate party for Northwestern’s home and season opening football game against the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs. The tailgate will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28 on the second tier of Ranger Field in Alva.

The tailgate party is free for anyone attending the football game. The Rowdy Rangers will be cooking hot dogs and hamburgers and there will appearances by the Ranger Cheerleaders, band, and special guest, Rowdy the Ranger. (Read More)
